I was wincing each time he swept his hand with the muzzle.

And we in the gun culture have pinheads arguing that the Four Rules are old and busted. Morons.

I’m with Pete.
You know it’s coming because of the title and the cringe just gets worse and worse.

Did that guy just point the weapon at his hand? He did it again! oops, that’s gonna leave a mark.

Fred, per R. A. Heinlein “Stupidity SHOULD be painful!”

If you’re fiddle farting with the laser with the gun loaded and pointed at your hand, why not go all the way and pull the trigger too? I say he did the right thing. His buddy no doubt learned a lot from him.

“You can teach ’em, but you cant learn ’em”.
I’m a retired Fireman and I’m here to tell you without fear of successful contradiction that stupidity is mankind’s most prominent and enduring trait.

Yeah, I am with Huck on this one.
I think that it does me good to see stuff like this because the next time I am cleaning my gun, I remember stuff like this and I check the chamber “just one more time” before I disassemble.

Is it wrong that I broke out laughing when he shot himself? Yeah, probably.

Robert, you can never check the chamber enough times. One of the things I like about my PX4 is that if somehow my stupid is on double plus override that day, when I push the buttons on both sides of the slide and pull it off the frame I’ll note the round in the chamber and tip the whole assembly up to let it slide out. It’s good to have a gun that sometimes let’s you pull a stupid and not bite you for it.

How could the gun fire if the laser wasn’t working?
How would the bullet know where to go?

“How could the gun fire if the laser wasn’t working?
How would the bullet know where to go?”
Good point; I believe the journalist community would have us believe that a laser on a gun means “laser-guided bullets”. Without the guidance system then, the bullet would have no where to go and so it doesn’t matter if there’s a round in the chamber and you pull the trigger while pointing the gun at yourself.
Yeah I’ll go with that.

If you’re going to be stupid, you’d better be tough.

Lyle, a friend of my Nephews actually does believe that bullets home in on the laser dot. I thought he was pulling my leg until I saw that all of his guns have lasers and he refuses to shoot anything that doesn’t have them because “who knows where the bullets will go”. I resolved to never go shooting with him again.

When I used to teach CHL I had a power point presentation where I showed photos of people who shot themselves in the hand, usually unloading a Glock by pulling the trigger with their weak hand in front of the barrel.
Hope Youtube lets me download that video. Make a good addition.
But that hurt…

Some people are not capable of learning from mistakes. Some sort of psychological problem. There is at least one person out there on y0tube that has shot themselves more than once in the hand. Think it was a sheriff.
But, I know someone with that problem, and I’m not exaggerating about it. Absolutely nothing can make him change the way he does something, once he does it for the first time.
