yep. the sheriff setting the fee is an artifact left over from when we were may issue. they should have standardized the fee when they converted us to shall issue…

While this is great, especially in those places where the applicants are getting screwed on fees, moving to shall-issue was a much bigger deal. It used to be a real pain in the ass to get a permit in Tuscaloosa county, and now you just cut them a check and wait for a NICS and warrant check, and walk out with a permit. I just wish they’d force them to start offering services online; as it stands you have to do everything by mail or face to face, either of which is a PITA compared to opening a web browser to buy new car tags, eg.
