Here in Texas, we got most of our gun bills passed through disgust with the depredations of local DAs misreading, misusing, and mistreating existing laws to prosecute innocent and ostensibly legal gun ownership.
Guns in Cars? Prosecutors in Houston were arresting travelers with legal guns in their cars and forcing them to go to trial to prove innocence.
Open Carry? Prosecutors were arresting for inadvertent display of a firearm, as in when a suit jacket blew open in a breeze, momentarily showing a holstered gun on a hip, or when a gun printed through a shirt.
Campus Carry? Austin has the University of Texas on 40 acres of downtown, and crossing a wrong street could get you arrested for illegal campus carry.
May I suggest to the good people of Tennessee that legislative overreaction to the idiocy of leftists is a productive way to get pro-rights laws passed?
