They must have been watching the Tennessee Legislature; kill it in committee so the rest of the House doesn’t have that embarrassing floor vote record.
Colorado has a record of defeating pro-liberty legislation by a rock solid margin of 1 vote. That being said, we now have shall-issue CCW due to the persistent efforts of many dedicated people. Oh, and dope. That flew through pretty quickly.
The next time there is a mass shooting of innocents by a deranged gunman in Colorado, maybe the Republicans of the legislature might use that opportunity to pass Constitutional Carry, and repeal all existing anti-gun laws, for the “Safety and Rights of the Citizens of Colorado.” Hell, do this next Tuesday, without any atrocity.
Let the left then spend millions and decades fighting to turn back the clock to status quo ante, instead of us.
Actually that “shall issue” ccw law is more restrictive than the may issue law it replaced. & constitutional carry? Its been shot down for decades by republicans, with the loudest voices against constitutional carry being NRA certified instructors.
If the republicans here were serious about protecting gun owners, they could have passed a repeal of all prior restraint based laws in the senate, adjourned, then refused to meet again until it passed the house & the gov signed it. But since they didn’t do anything like that when they had the house, senate & governors mansion all to themselves (they passed gunowner control laws in fact), I doubt they’ll grow some spine or act on principal now.
Still, nice of them to pass a repeal of the mag cap ban out of the senate. It shows we’re at least still getting lip service.
In our case, the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Miguel Diaz de la Portilla (R, Miami), is refusing to grant Judiciary Committee hearings for any pro-gun bills that he doesn’t like (which, I suspect, is all of them), so that they don’t even come to a vote.
Unfortunately, I think the “smokebird” demographic that decided to put down weed roots in the Centennial State may permanently alter the local demographics.
Another unintended consequence of the War on Drugs. We’re starting to see another western state fall away from free America. We need full legalization nationwide as soon as possible. Y’all know it’s going to happen anyway.
Nope. Those laws were voted in before weed was legal. Education is shit in CO, so we import lots of college educated people from other places. They support dems; dems get off on gun control because it made them look important and got them on national television. All it takes is your state to have a large urban area and idiot republicans (who propose clowns for governors) and it can happen to you.

We have a similar issue down here in Florida.
