Obviously, compensating for the size of his penis
Or I feel bad for actually wanting a $4,800 wheelgun
Nighthawk has teamed up with Korth to make some really slick custom revolvers. I handled them at their booth at the NRA Annual Meeting. The lower end of the spectrum is the Sky Hawk, a 9mm revolver:
And here’s the Mongoose, in 357:
And here’s the sexy looking Supersport, also in 357:
Given that I shoot almost exclusively plastic handguns, I’m amazed at how a lot of these metal triggers feel. The Korths definitely had a some of the slickest triggers I’ve ever dry fired. These are very expensive handguns, for what they are. But they are nice. I also snagged a video of the Sky Hawk’s internals in operation. I’ve understood, basically, how revolvers work for a while. But to see it in action made it clear:
AR furniture that is. Saw these wooden furniture sets for ARs from WoodForAR.com:
I kind of want to do a 20 inch barreled, longish range AR in that.
“We’re gonna get rid them”

Donald Trump on the NRA convention: There are so many rifles. So many guns. Even I get a little concerned.
Says Crooked Hillary wants to eliminate the second amendment. Go vote for him. He’ll put the miners back to work.
Listing the states he won.
He sees building blowing up. He’s bringing good things back and you’re gonna be happy.
Hillary unqualified and he’s looking forward to the debates.
Chris Cox just announced the NRA’s official endorsement of Donald Trump. The collective groans around me were audible. There may have been a few “are you kidding me”s.
Handled one just a bit ago, life as a hand model:
It has what appears to be cocking serrations. But I don’t see how you could use them one handed given barrel length.

Seen at IWI booth:
Here’s a shorty:
And one in 7.62×51:
I was unaware they were importing them.
And I noticed a lot more Tavors with AR style selector switches.
Every time I make it to the NRA convention, I always head to the Brownells booth first thing to say hello to the nicest man in the industry, Larry Weeks. This is the first year he wasn’t there. I guess he’s really retired now instead of retired and working when he wanted to.
A shiny AR-15 from Cobalt Kinetics, as seen on the NRA floor:
What I found interesting about first was the 57% selector switch:
Not quite certain why but it was certainly interesting. But the thing that I found most intriguing was the double forward bolt assist:
But this is no ordinary forward bolt assist. This one actually acts as a bolt release. The release is proprietary and only available on their guns. They’ve taken the most useless AR-15 part (the forward bolt assist) and made it adequately useful. It took some thumb stretching but, with some effort, I could operate it with my right hand.
Let the festivities commence.
I’ll be heading to Louisville, KY for the NRA Annual Meeting. So, as often happens at these things, blogging may be light. Or there may be a ton of it. I’ll get there tomorrow. If you’re there, look me up. And, other than a Thursday night thing, I’ve made no real plans for Friday or Saturday. Let me know if you have recommendations.
A list, from Oddball. I’ve pretty much got all the guns I need. Assuming no concern for price or anything, my list of wants would 1) a big ass revolver, like this Korth here. I’ve never been really into wheelguns but they look like they’d be a blast.
2) A machine gun. Just to say I have a machine gun. Probably a registered M16 lower that I’d get all Magpul fanboy on.
3) A mid to long range gun that, probably in .308, to shoot Boomershoot.

Girl, aged 5, was suspended from school for a weapon. The weapon being a bubble gun.
Good:
A federal judge has ruled that a key provision of the Districts new gun law is likely unconstitutional, ordering D.C. police to stop requiring individuals to show good reason to obtain a permit to carry a firearm on the streets of the nations capital.
In imposing a preliminary injunction pending further litigation, U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon reignited a running battle over the Second Amendment in the District and its courts where three different judges have now weighed in with varying conclusions.
Why I Switched to Double Action Semi-Autos. Todd Green, IIRC, said something similar regarding AIWB. I prefer the same trigger pull every time and haven’t switched to AIWB because I drive a lot.
The Brady Bunch shamed Chuck Schumer (D-Ranged) about not pushing gun control. So, he’s introducing a gun control bill. It’s probably the “background check your friends and family” bill.
For her gun control film, Katie Couric interviewed John Lott for four hours. And none of it made it to the film.
Kevin has penned his last Uberpost:
So I’m pretty much done being outraged by it all.
I feel ya, man. I find myself giving a whole lot less of a fuck lately too.

A student brought a fake gun made of rolled up paper to a school in Hartford this morning, which led to a lockdown.
Look, Forrest, if you don’t want a gun, cool. Don’t get one. No problem. However, when you put pen to paper (or fingers to internet stupid machine or whatever) and explain why, do so in a logical manner. This is just stupid:
I decided there was one principal reason I wouldnt buy a handgun: I dont want to live in fear. I know that sounds strange a gun is supposed to bring peace of mind. But to keep a piece at your side is to look at the world through gunsights. Its a profoundly anti-social posture. To me, carrying a handgun is an acknowledgement of weakness, not strength. Its an admission that youre out of ideas for how to deal with people, even those especially those who mean you harm. Its a failure of imagination, a failure of wits and, in the case of open carry, a threat of violence to every passing person.
No, it’s not a sign of weakness. Much like not driving a car means you’re slow. It’s acknowledging that you are a tool using primate. And you can be more effective.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
