In my lifetime, not too many years ago, such statements would have had her own party drumming her out of office into instant retirement, for their own good.
It isn’t their horrible policies that disturb me, I expect that from them and have seen nothing different since I was a kid. It is their more recent lack of reticence in openly stating them, without fear of reprisals, which really scares me.

If they put you on the watch list and you appeal, they will use the same vague criteria to deny your appeal that they used to put you on the list in the first place. A right to appeal just means that they have to use their rubberstamp twice instead of just once.
Right now the talk is about jihadis, but if this passes they will use it to “prove” that what they’ve been saying all along is true – that most domestic terrorists are right-wingers not Muslims. That means that they will continue to ignore Muslims, while working overtime to put as many ordinary Americans as possible on the list. I can see Obama and Lynch grinning from ear to ear if they get this, because they know exactly what they want to do with it – put every NRA type in America on the list.

What really gets me is that these people bleat on and on about background checks but then we see this Orlando shooter pass all his background checks and then they bitch about him being *alliwed* to buy a gun. Not only did he pass his NICS check, but he passed a far more stringent check when he was put on the watchlist and then removed. He was actively investigated by the FBI… and he passed! ANd here they are saying people who PASS a background check should be barred from owning guns. Shows us the real intent behind these checks. Josef Heller would be (sarcastically) proud: you have to be investigated if you want to buy a gun, but those who get investigated must be doing something wrong.
