Yeah, I saw this posted elsewhere today. Not sure how a 2 year old article suddenly starts making the rounds again.

Texas, gross. I actually think a few Texans repeat articles like this so they look more pro gun than they are.

Erik, Why you got to be like that. Most of Texas is very pro guns and gun rights. Some areas not so much (Austin and Williamson County). But I think things like low taxes and reliable electrical grid also come into play.

– Bill, I think you mean Austin and Travis County. Williamson county is pretty conservative.

Williamson County is a solidly Republican county north of Austin and Travis County in Texas. I live there, in Round Rock.
The saying about the odd little town between Round Rock and Austin is as follows: Pflugerville, Caught Between a Rock and a Weird Place.
As indicators of the conservative values of my county, panhandling at street corners stops exactly one intersection outside the county line for Williamson, inside Travis. Our highway overpasses have 6″ sharp limestone rubble under them and no homeless camps; Austin has nice pavement under theirs, and permanent homeless establishments. And when I get a speeding ticket in Austin, the officer might call for backup because of my NRA sticker and CHL; in Williamson, officers have actually said, “Thanks for supporting the 2nd Amendment!” while giving me my commuter tax notice.
