Messaging

The democrats are trying to retool their message on gun control. Retool, apparently, being a synonym for lying and coming up with new ways to make old, defunct ideas seem like they’re a good thing:

Stick to stressing the gun lobby as a special interest out to protect the profits of manufacturers, Pollock told the assembled representatives of Priorities USA, NARAL, AFSCME and the Senate and House Majority PACs. A strategist from the Democratic side of Googles political consulting operation was also there.

A lie. And, of course, corporate gun lobby:

The ’60s called, they want their clichs back, said Larry Keane, senior vice president at the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Based on a description of the new strategy, Keane called it “very pretty looking camo.”

If gun control is popular and a winning issue, why do all of this?

    From the streets of Cleveland

McCracken says she’s not sure why relatively few people showed up to protest in Cleveland, but she believes many were scared off by Ohio’s open carry laws, which allow people to carry firearms — despite the ban on tennis balls and aluminum cans — near the convention.

Apparently, carry laws can have a salubrious effect just by existing.

Because freedom is still kinda popular, and still a winning issue. People won’t give it up readily, and so we must be deceived or shocked into giving it up.

It isn’t the strength of the lie that is important, whether it can withstand scrutiny. Anti-gun lies are the chaff they throw out to distract and annoy us while they pass rotten legislation which takes decades of fighting and millions of dollars to roll back to the original status.

Ignore their lies. Tell OUR truths, and work to pass good gun rights laws. Let them spend millions of dollars and decades of their time fighting our pro-rights legislation, or our honest truths about gun rights.

Last night, for the first time I’ve heard, leftist pundits reacting to Trump citing recent terror eventsand police assassinations , pointed out the government stats that show violent crime rate has been going down for the last thirty years. Even Obama said the same today. Yet they have NEVER mentioned this previously to justify gun control proposals. Incredible!

Trump mentioned the recent specific increases in violence citing a need to support law enforcement AND to stop bringing jihadists into our country. Finally! Since 9-11, I’ve been saying, STOP LETTING THEM IN!!!

I tried to argue with my local newspaper editor that the NRA was not a lobbyist for manufacturers, that NRA represents millions of gun owners, that the NSSF has the role of representing manufacturers, but he just quoted the Violence Policy Center to me.
I eventually happened to see him in person, and got to witness his atrocious behavior, and he really is a vicious asshole. There will be no reasoning with these people. They simply won’t have it. Look at Maura Healy. Nuts.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
