A photo of the new FBI Glock has been leaked. And there are rumors that Glock has started the trademark process for the term Gen-5. As for changes in the Glock for the FBI model, I’m happy to report they got rid of the finger grooves. Other changes:
A new tougher finish
Changes in the rifling
Longer recoil spring assembly
Reinforced forward notch for the recoil spring assembly
A smoother trigger similar to the G42/43
Flared magwell
Changes in the safety plunger
Ambidextrous slide release
Magazines may have an extended front lip
Magazine well cutout

Glock’s are like kissing your cousin. They just don’t feel right.

I agree Erik. The grip is too sharply angled and it doesn’t allow a natural point, like the M1911A1 does.
I don’t like Glocks in any way, shape, or form. Or any plastic gun for that matter. Steel and wood for this ‘ol boy!

Boring.
But am sure Glock will sell a boatload once the FBI contract is filled.
Erik … maybe if we swapped cousins. 😉

Because we’re the FBI and couldn’t possibly use a COTS pistol. Why pay $400 a pistol when we could pay $800 for basically the same firearm.

If you take some of the handguns or handgun cartridges the FBI used, going back to the 1930s, and spent the time to learn to shoot them pretty well, you could then take any other more ergonomic handgun or more shootable round and shoot it very well.
Shoot a .357 Magnum out of a 4″ revolver, and hit the target, and the recoil of a .45ACP 1911 seems like child’s play on double taps.
Shoot a 10mm long enough, often enough, and a 9mm or 40S&W can be shot like a laser.
Shoot a Glock pretty well, and any handgun with a grip instead of 2×4 where the fingers and palm grab the thing suddenly becomes almost a custom fit personalized self defense work of art.
The FBI leads the way in making better shooters of its agents through the FBI functional requirement that to shoot its handguns well enough you have to be, or become, a good shooter.
