Here is an excerpt from the majority opinion of the 1857 SCOTUS Dred Scott decision that kept black people as slaves in the United States. This decision was overturned AFTER the Civil War by the 13th and 14th Amendments.
” It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognised as citizens in any one State of the Union, …the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, AND TO KEEP AND CARRY ARMS WHEREVER THEY WENT. And all of this would be done in the face of the subject race of the same color, both free and slaves, and inevitably producing
discontent and insubordination among them, and endangering the
peace and safety of the State.”
Disarming people and keeping them that way has ALWAYS been the chief aspect of slavery down through history and CONTINUES to today with our modern politicians,
@Lyle, thanks. At least SCOTUS knew what the wording of the 2nd Amendment and the word “bear” meant…that the people had the right to not only keep, but to CARRY the means of armed self defense EVERYWHERE THEY WENT!

Huh. Didn’t know whether to read that, “black gun” owners matter or black “gun owners” matter.
Both I reckon.
