ATF still kinda sucks at their job
For years, ATF has demonstrated a shocking lack of responsibility and judgment. We saw this with Operation Fast and Furious and again with Operation Fearless. This inspector general report confirms what weve long suspected: poor management and a loose organizational culture has led to completely avoidable failures in its undercover storefront operations. ATF has been tasked with an important responsibility of keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals. Its time that this organization gets serious about that duty. Our safety and our rights depend on it

See, you’re making a mistake there.
Their job is to try to keep guns out of the hands of the law-abiding and has been since 1/2009.

Longer than that, Operation Wide Receiver started under Bush the Younger. If Grassley was serious he’d be trying to defund them.

“Their job is to try to keep guns out of the hands of the law-abiding and has been since 1/2009.”
Wrong. 1934.
They do their job about as well as they could in America. We still have guns, so you could say they’ve failed, but they’ve certainly managed to make keeping and bearing arms (and manufacturing, buying and selling) more difficult, expensive and risky. Plus, they’ve managed to kill a few people, and to effectively slander gun owners in the minds of the ignorant. That is success in the eyes of the enemies of America, and a little success is enough for them to keep the fight going. “Courage” as Dan Rather would say.
