Creating crime to solve it

Not just for the FBI

fbiterrorplot

ATF gets in on it too except they botched it as the ATF is prone to do:

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) set up shop as a sting operation to attract illegal gun and drug dealers. It worked: 144 firearms were bought and confiscated, as were narcotics during 68 transactions. Thirty-one people were arrested.

Yet, the agencys Operation Fearless was enough of a mess that the Justice Departments Office of Inspector General (IG) was prompted to take a broad look at ATFs undercover storefront operations. For all the good the Milwaukee sting did, there were enough blunders to make Operation Feckless seem an appropriate label.

In a report issued last week, the IG examined similar stings in Pensacola, Fla.; St. Louis; Wichita; and Boston, in addition to Milwaukee. The conclusion is sharp.

The operations were marked by poor management, insufficient training and guidance to agents in the field, and a lax organizational culture that failed to place sufficient emphasis on risk management in these inherently sensitive operations, the IG office found. It was alerted to the problems following a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel investigation into Operation Fearless.

Wanna laugh and cry at the same time? Anybody who hasn’t, hit the link and rtwt.

These are the people tasked with ensuring you handle guns responsibly. Well, really they’re tasked with jamming you up as a pretext to taking your rights and ultimately your guns. They’re pretty good at the former but before they move on to the latter they’ll have to find their ass first. Wonder what that idiocy cost us?

This outfit gives the Keystone Cops a bad name.

Been following Operation Feckless for some time and it’s unconscionable what they are doing to poor minority kids. I remember reading in great detail about how the ATF solicited illegal guns from a mentally challenged kid for an obscene amount of money. When he produced the illegal guns they wanted, the kid was put through the ringer and told to either flip on the suppliers or go to jail.

What’s more the ATF turned an otherwise moderate crime area into a high crime area by attracting all sorts of degenerates, all in the name of increasing arrests. I guess when your paid by the number of arrests, increasing crime is good for business.

FYI, you should read the Journal-Sentinel’s page about Operation Fearless. It’s a detailed look into the mismanagement and bumbling by the ATF just in Milwaukee. And just think, they were doing this all over the country.

Some decades ago, a couple ATF schlubs attempted to effect a strawman transfer in our local shop. Unfortunately, our local gunsmith was also our local City Marshall and two of his deputies were in the shop as well.

When our Marshall informed the pair that they were under arrest, they revealed that they were ATF agents and displayed their badges and credentials. The two were eventually allowed to leave sans credentials. For all I know, our City Marshall took them to his grave.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
