Keep calm and carry one
A motorist was “allowed” to travel peaceably through a crowd of Black Lives Matter rioters. Because he had a gun.
However, I don’t think having your window rolled down and holding your handgun out the window is a real good idea.

Roll it down just a little more than 9 mm.
You should be good.

As a general rule, I agree. Having said that, I find it interesting that it worked this time.

That was certainly better than the whites who were beaten and had their clothes torn off as they begged for mercy, or were ripped from their soon to be looted and burned vehicles, or the man who the crowd tried to set on fire.
His tactic may not have been the best, but he went home unmolested. Whatever tactic works is good enough.

I wonder if this instance will get rolled into the data for DGU that the other side says never happens.

I’m grew up in Charlotte. It is a silly place.
That guy with a gun was very likely a local redneck white boy trolling the protestors, knowing he’d get in the news for his show of force. He also apparently picked a location for his brandishing totally without police presence. The Charlotte cops love nothing more than arresting local white rednecks when they act like this idiot.

I saw that I think it is not a good idea normally. This was not normal He was telegraphing he was armed and ready to use if his car was attacked Message was received and he was allowed to go peacefully

@RAH, I agree. Obviously the criminal rioters were not willing to risk serious bodily injury or death for their cause. Nor were they willing to report the firearm brandisher to the police they hate. BTW, I’ve read data that most successful self defense gun uses involve only the brandishing of a weapon to dissuade would-be assailants. I do think it would’ve been better to keep the gun in hand inside the vehicle, but visible. A daring rioter could’ve come from behind and possibly grabbed his gun.

Maybe that’s a North Carolina gang sign . Or maybe he’s the local dealer .

Under the circumstances I think this guy did absolutely the right thing. Just flourish it for a few seconds to let them know you’re not an easy target. I’m trying to figure out why he opened his door at the end of the film.
