Not that dangerous, the barrel itself is a proper steel barrel, the breach is plenty strong in just a single direction.
A straight walled case like .357 mag is optimal for this sort of thing.

Hey, it wasn’t just a ziptie repair! He essentially reconstructed the slide plastic with solvents and glue, maybe making the repair stronger than the original material.
A straight walled case like a gentle wadcutter loaded for Cowboy Action Shooting in a .38 Special case would be even better in such a firearm than the .357JHP, but then again, I like my fingers where they are.
