What guns Americans are buying
A list over at FoxNews, written by someone who knows little about guns. Pistol gauge?
I’m not surprised by the AR-15 and the shield. I think a few years back, the top selling pistol would have been the LCP.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

It also says that the revolver is the second most manufactured firearm at 792k/yr. The next section says that the 9mm semi auto pistol has 1.4 million pistols/yr produced. Not only does the author say dumb shit like pistol gauge this person doesn’t grasp basic math either.

Bought a M&P 9mm compact in June and stocked up on ammo this week. Looking at a laser practice system at http://lasrapp.com/store Even at $645 because I don’t have a laptop to use with the system, I will save money on ammo and use it a LOT more than packing up my gear and heading to the range as often as I have in the past.

Calling BS on that Heritage being the highest selling revolver. And more revolvers are sold than semis” Double BS

Some Jerkoff, Yeah I caught that too. Like when a “news” caster says “The gunman was armed with a 38mm handgun”. I joked that anyone that can shoot a 38mm hand gun dose not need one..

“Pistol Gauge”. They always have to fuck something up like that. I’m still unsure whether it’s part of their training, or whether butt ignorance, and the lack of curiosity to go and look things up, is a prerequisite for the job.
So; what “gauge” is a 9 mm? A .355″ ball of pure lead weighs about 67 grains. 7,000/67 = 104.47, so it’s a 104 Gauge. During the 1860’s pistol calibers were sometimes indicated in balls-to-the-pound (a 44 pistol was thus a 50 balls to the pound proposition – it made sense in terms of logistics, as in purchasing lead for casting), but try to get a journalist to understand any of that…

Reminds me of the Rolling Stone article on the 5 deadliest firearms in America. Cool, I think. A shopping list. But one should not go to Rolling Stone for firearms knowledge. The list includes the following five deadly guns:
1) Pistols
2) Revolvers
3) Rifles
4) Shotguns
5) Derringers
Well, that certainly sounds like a comprehensive list.
