Not exactly scientific… Hundreds surveyed, dozens responded, and heavy selection bias is clear by how much the demographics are skewed from the population surveyed.
As Wallphone notes, several hundred incarcerated murderers were surveyed (everyone convicted since 2014, because ABC wanted to question only those involved in the recent two year increase in murder count), and about three dozen (“several dozen”) answered.
Still, the news station does not report actual numbers, which makes their report not just nonscientific but worthless. Junk science, junk survey.
What we have here is a report by a self-selected few murderers about their crimes. Thank goodness it wasn’t the few murderers who used hammers to commit their crimes who decided to respond, or ABC might well be screaming for protests against hand tools at Home Depot tool departments.
This story is nothing but smoke and and mirrors. The purpose of violating the second amendment is to restrict the honest, decent, productive, more self sufficient people, not the criminals and parasites.
@Lyle, you’re exactly right! Criminals who violate various gun laws like background checks, gun-free zones, theft, etc before committing murder are just pretexts for their legalized version, politicians, to attack the “honest, decent and productive ” citizens who CHOOSE to exercise their right to acquire, keep and carry the means of armed self defense.
It’s a no-brainer that if a lowlife ignored the law against MURDER, which is the most severe crime one can commit, he’s going to ignore other laws as well.
We need a law making it illegal to break the law. Think of how much trouble psychopathic felons and politicians, but I repeat myself, would be in, if we just made it illegal to break the law.

“The radio station sent surveys to every killer who used a gun to murder someone in Harris County since 2014.”
How many people surveyed are we talking here?

Not perfect, but arguably better than Kellerman.

A better report on the survey: http://abc13.com/news/how-texas-killers-get-their-guns/1575958/

mikee, it seems the whole article was built around beating the drum for Universal Background Checks.

What an astute observation!
One hundred percent of the murderers killed someone or took part in a crime where someone was killed.
