Administration pushes smart gun technology
John has some details. If we were to require them for police and military, I’m sure the answer would be a resounding no.

In the earlier draft, people had some amusing observations that are still true in the final report. Example, all those safety devices demanded by some gun control advocates like magazine disconnects are prohibited. Minimum magazine capacity is 14 for compact, 16 (illegal in my state …) for fullsize.
4.18.12 and 4.18.13 are hilarious – requiring the “smart” part to fail to into fire mode. Which means that the law enforcement users don’t want it.

I’m gonna wait on the development of Star Trek phasers before I get interested in “smart” weapons.

The only true way to make firearms ” safer” is training. Perhaps all those “accidental” discharges by LEOs can be reduced or eliminated by simply better and more training . Same for any individual so inclined .
