About the NYPD and their Glocks
No, there won’t be a G19L. Looks like the NYPD is just neutering their magazines. There would have been a market for the latter.

Evidently, that an issue Glock 17 could have 2 more rounds than a Glock 19 would so utterly confuse an NYPD officer, that it has to be stopped.
OK, since its NYPD, I can believe that.

In retrospect, it would have been totally out of character for the NYPD to issue such a groovy duty heater.

Frankly issuing the 19 is a shocker.

If you like 1911s, you can get combinations of frame sizes with almost any barrel length. They are even named: Longslide, Government, Commander, Combat Carry Officer, Commanding Officer, and then other unnamed smaller sizes. Fine marketing, to suit every niche of .45ACP handgun shooter, from expensive custom guns to Filipino cast iron models at rock bottom prices.
But Glock perfection means you take your number and that’s it. Unless you want to eliminate some magazine capacity, I guess, like NYPD is doing.
Do NYPD cops still carry “drop guns” to plant on suspects they’ve shot? Or is that a thing of the past?

Yes Mickee, you can indeed get any flavor of 1911 imaginable, but as we are speaking of weapons issues by large police agencies your comment is as applicable as bananas in a steakhouse. Glock, love em or hate em has the majority of the civilian police market for good reason…they make a product that works 99.9% of the time that isn’t easily screwed up by newbie handlers.
As to your final comment.
No, NYPD cops do not carry “drop guns” and haven’t done so since that last episode of Kojak you watched on late night TV back in 1983.

mikee,
“Longslide, Government, Commander, Combat Carry Officer, Commanding Officer, and then other unnamed smaller sizes.”
Checked Colt catalog. You seem to be incorrect.

I own a 17, 19, 20, 21 & 43. Love them all. But for the life of me, I don’t see the attraction of a chopped 17, other than the obvious of being able to use 19 mags.
If that is the case, just buy the 26 and use any mag of your choice.
Am I missing something?
