When those states pass those Firearms Freedom laws . . .

The feds will still arrest and have you convicted:

Two Kansans face up to a decade in prison for making and selling silencers without registering them with the federal government or paying the special taxes. They say it’s allowed under state law. But a federal jury says it’s illegal.

The NRA is pushing for national concealed carry reciprocity

And that’s got the NY Daily News butthurt.

Life in the future

A woman is suing a vibrator company because it’s companion app on her phone tracked personal data while she was, uhm, shebopping.

The future is stupid.

How do you draw it?

FullConceal sells what looks like a pretty derpy idea. Basically, cut the grip off a Glock, add a magazine holder to the front, and let’s make it an 80% receiver so there’s no FFL required. Have a look:

I get trying to make a gun more concealable but when you make it substantially less useful and effective, I don’t think that works.

Self-driving cars

I have one. Only not the kind you’re thinking of. Got the wife a new Earthfucker and it’s replete with all manner of features to assist the driver. Some of these features are pretty cool. Most of them are annoying. On the cool side is the back up camera graphic that can project where the vehicle will end up if you keep the steering wheel where it’s at. This has proven handy for parking the large thing in tight spots. It also has a light on the mirror that lights up if someone is to your left or right. This is also handy, since the large thing has tiny mirrors.

As to the annoying features, it has a mode it goes into for descending steep inclines. This will cause the vehicle to use a lower gear and brake on its own. It will also brake on its own if it senses you’re approaching something too quickly. And, the worst of all, it will beep and the seat will vibrate alerting you to all this. So, when you pull into your garage, all these damn things go off at once. Quite the nuisance. Fortunately, I was able to disable the vibrating and the beeping.

Not to be a fuddy duddy, but it’s the driver’s job to drive the car. Not the computer’s. I like all the features that provide me with information, such as the camera and lights when someone might be in the blind spot. But the actual driving of the vehicle is not something I want a computer to do.

More on fake news

Epitomizing everything about the internet, the study that said “fake news” beat “real news” turned out to be fake news. Meanwhile, the list of fake news sites includes among them sites that are not fake news but has opinions the professor doesn’t like.

The end of racism

I’ve said before that the term racism, like fascism, has lost any real meaning. Both terms are just tossed out at someone the left doesn’t like. You know, Trump is a racist and fascist. Bannon is a racist. Everyone is a racist who is not a lefty. So, the term has lost meaning to many. When I hear the accusation against someone, I usually roll my eyes. That’s not to say there isn’t real racism. But the accusation has lost meaning. Accusations of racism are like crying wolf, I agree.

Meanwhile, here’s some real racism with the added bonus of double standards and low expectations.

Administration pushes smart gun technology

John has some details. If we were to require them for police and military, I’m sure the answer would be a resounding no.

Gun registries are bad. Especially during the zombie apocalypse

Dunno who out there still watches The Walking Dead. But this week’s episode featured gun control. Spoiler alert.

Turns out the good guys kept an inventory of guns and who had them. A registry of guns, as it were. The bad guys found the registry and then took all the guns. They even knew there were guns missing because the registry told them. This strikes me as a bad idea in general. Even more so when it’s the end of the world.

Changes to ATF form 4473

Or as I like to call it, the one yes followed by a bunch of nos.

Right here. Looks like they’re putting language in there regarding marijuana usage because some states have legalized it.

Officer who shot Philando Castile will be charged

CBS News reports he’s charged with manslaughter:

Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said Wednesday that after investigating the police shooting death of Philando Castile, the prosecutor has decided to charge the officer who fired with second-degree manslaughter.

My conscience tells me that it would be wrong for me to ask a grand jury to make this decision when I know what needs to be done, Choi said.

He was shot sitting in his car and it was livestreamed on video. Castile had a carry permit. The officer shot seven times.

Life in the future

Facebook and Google will stop selling ads to fake news sites in an effort to clean up the internet. And, as asserted, because fake news allowed Trump to win. Whatever will CNN and MSNBC do. I kid. Sorta.

I really doubt facebook’s commitment to that. Because there’s a lot of that stuff that comes through the app by shares or ads. A while back, I used to be able to hover over the offending post and select “hide all from”. I did this for sites like GatewayPundit, WesternJournalism, Conservative National Enquirer*, Vox, sites that have Truth and Patriot in them, homeopathy, and many others I can’t recall. That feature is now limited and I assume it’s because these sites are paying for that.

Policing that should be your own responsibility.

The future is stupid.

Because they haven’t been up until now

The Paper of Making Up The Record is going to change and be all honest and stuff:

As we reflect on this weeks momentous result (Hillary losing despite their shilling – ed), and the months of reporting and polling that preceded it, we aim to rededicate ourselves to the fundamental mission of Times journalism. That is to report America and the world honestly, without fear or favor, striving always to understand and reflect all political perspectives and life experiences in the stories that we bring to you

Could have done that all along.

Make exploding targets

Boom bottles. Way back in nineteen aught eleventy twelve, I used to make these. You could also add a bit of water for a spray effect or a powder, such as flour, for more effect:

Tolerance

A mom kicks her child out and verbally abuses him because he voted for Trump in a mock election. The police are investigating.

The future of democrats

I wonder if they’ll soon be a regional party:

There are 34 seats to be decided in the 2018 midterms. Twenty-six are held by Democrats and one by Bernie Sanders, the socialist independent from Vermont.

Republicans have to defend just eight. Only two of those races will occur in states that had relatively close margins for Trump: Nevada, which Trump lost, and Arizona, which Trump won. The Republicans in those states, Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona and Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada, will likely be targeted.

Democrats are up for re-election in 10 states won by Trump.

If those Democrats obstruct and block the Trump agenda, they could suffer strong challenges in the 2018 midterm elections.

Usually, the party out of the White House does well in the first midterm elections. The Republicans won historic margins in 1994 and 2010.

The Dems took a beating and may take another.

Then and now
