The Tennessean comes out against constitutional carry

About what I’d expect. Except they get some things very wrong:

The next step apparently is a renewed effort to pass a constitutional carry law in Tennessee, which would eliminate the necessity of obtaining a permit to carry a gun, with its requirement that the permit holder must undergo training in how to handle deadly weapons.

There is no training required to get a permit. One must take a class that goes over self-defense law. And then one must qualify by scoring 70% at a generous target. No real requirement for training. And they add a bit of hysteria:

One can only imagine how many fender-benders, arguments over parking spots, domestic squabbles and the like will deliver a cascade of grief and regret to the families and friends of innocent victims.

The press said the same thing about carry permits and that didn’t manifest into reality.

Years ago, when the gun permit law was passed and more freedom allowed, by subsequent legislation, the Tennessean opined with prejudice and bigotry that there would be “Wild West shootouts” and “blood in the streets” by citizens exercising their State and U.S. Constitutional right.
I ask, what other rights should be permitted, criminal back ground checked and taxed before their FREE EXERCISE, does the Tennessean propose?

That statement is of course entirely correct; One can only imagine it. Because it is so very rare in reality, your chances of actually seeing it are almost nill. You have a better chance of being killed by a lightning strike.

We have constitutional carry in Idaho, and several other states, in which these dire predictions continue to fail to manifest.

Apparently, imagination = reality to some people. If they can imagine it, it must already have happened.

I wonder why they think the result in TN would be so different than those in every other state that has enacted it?

They do not think very highly of their fellow Tennesseans. Of course, they don’t call it Pravda on The Cumberland for nothin’!

Projectionism. The libs are proclaiming how THEY would act in such situations.

I’ve had 2 instances where I was hostilely confronted by people. One over “taking too long” to gas up my truck at a gas station island and the other for “stealing MY parking spot”. One of the asshats who got in my face had a Gore-Lieberman sticker on his car and the other had a Code Pink sticker. ‘Nuff said about who the hostile/dangerous people are.

Every single time. OCEANS OF BLOOD, MOUNTAINS OF SKULLS.

It never actually comes to pass, but they keep predicting it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
