OMG REPRESENTATIVES CARRY GUNS
And some times, they’re careless:
Gun-friendly New Hampshire is back in the spotlight after a lawmaker dropped a loaded firearm this week in a House hearing on a kindergarten bill.
But lawmakers packing guns on statehouse grounds and occasionally handling them recklessly isnt unique to the Live Free or Die state. At least 19 states, from Kansas to Texas to Idaho, allow legislators to carry guns in parts of or the entire capitol. In a handful of others that prohibit it, such as Oklahoma, lawmakers sometimes bypass security measures in order to carry concealed firearms.
Ive testified in a number of states where Ive had legislators show me they were carrying even though they werent allowed to do so, said John Lott, president of the Crime Prevention Resource Center, which has gathered info on guns in statehouses.
No violent incidents of lawmakers carrying guns at statehouses have been recorded in recent memory. Carelessness is another matter.

Someone had a gun, dropped it, and…nothing happened! Let’s all freak out, climb the walls, jump up on the furniture, swing from chandeliers, and shit ourselves!

At least he had the good sense to let it drop and not try to catch it. That’s usually when bad things happen.

Stop playing with it.
There are things you do, and do not, play with in public.
I almost said “in polite company”… but it was a legislative session.

It’s not just legislators here in New Hampshire. The only place legally prohibited are courts. We are legal to carry everywhere else not excluded by federal law. I’m not sure how our town issued concealed carry permits fit with the GFSZA though. Technically it authorized us through the state but IANAL and I haven’t seen where precedent had been set on that odious law.

She claimed that her backpack strap pulled it out of her holster when she took the pack off.
Accidents happen, but from my own experience, the odds of dropping a gun are greatly reduced if you use a good holster.
