Repeal the Hughes Amendment
A White House petition. Much like the repeal the NFA one I linked before, I don’t think much gets done by petition.
Honestly, both of these petitions have fewer signatures than I thought they’d have. But a group of people that, generally, are leery of being on government lists probably aren’t inclined to sign up for a government list.

It feels futile, but I signed up.. 🙂

I had signed them both. If I’m not on their stupid lists by now…

I don’t take much stock in the click bait White House Petitions….

The purpose of the White House petitions is to self-identify to the political parties as a person with a niche interest, so your emails and online advertisements can be more specifically tailored to your personal inclinations, interests, fetishes, idiocies and ideologies. To get your money when asking for donations. To get your interest when getting out the vote. To get your acquiescence, when you might otherwise object.
Sure, sign the petition, and give them your name and email address. Spam is free, and tasty!

This is the first i’ve heard of the petitions.

I suspect (at the risk of sounding paranoid) (but it IS within the realms of reason considering the past behavior of both the NSA and the various administrations) that everyone who has ever purchased a firearm from a dealer and undergone the usual FBI background checks is already on a government list. Perhaps not a registered firearms list, but a list nonetheless which flags anyone making a purchase at a firearms dealer. Probably also anyone making online purchases from gun parts and accessories resellers.

Even though it might not be financially beneficial to me, I would love to see Hugh’s repealed via legislation or judiciary decision. It’s quite ludicrous that we live in a world where you can legally own something as long as it wasn’t manufactured within the last 30+ years.
