The Trumpening
So, Trump, like Obama, also has a pen. And a phone. The latter he mostly seems to use to annoy people on the internet. The former, he’s zapping off Executive Orders pretty quick. Here’s a guide to his 17 executive orders. Mostly, they seem aimed at undoing the previous administration. And a couple are for cutting government hiring and regulations.
One EO, he instructions the non-elected bureaucrats that to have one regulation approved, they must repeal two. My guess is they’ll just write longer ones with more details in them. But, overall, I think it’s hysterical and hope that it results as intended: trimming the .gov.
And it couldn’t happen to a nicer group: EPA Employees Coming to Work in Tears Because of Trump Win
Given my line of work, I hope Trump looks into stormwater regulations.

The tears of communists and other authoritarian shitweasels are indeed sweet, but much sweeter still would be true liberty as promised by the American Founding.

Now we can privately buy or sell a gun or two without going to the Fed penitentiary for which Chuck Shumer would shed no tears.

The “Two for One Reg Special” is a little more detailed. Basically, it is accompanied by an additional order that the cost of regulatory compliance must be no more $0 in fiscal 2017.
What that means is that for every regulatory burden placed on the nation, they must remove enough regulatory burden to keep things at $0. Scoring can be complicated but it’s an open-ish process subject to protest. Meaning that OMB numbers will be kinda close.

Maybe he’ll toss restrictions on post office carry. I wonder if he has the authority to do that.

Her could also flush the state department manufacturer registration requirement for non-exporting mfgs.

@ben: no, I beleive post office carry is part of the overall federal laws on carry in federal property. I think it’s statute that you cannot carry, so an exec order wouldn’t suffice.
But that didn’t stop Obama from *not* enforcing laws he didn’t like. Not sure we want Trump to do that, though. Too much ambiguity to risk jail over what Trump did today, when the statute of limitations could be 7 years and some states can charge you no matter what.

He ought to have them up on charges for the Gold King Mine debacle. If the mine owners had spilled that stuff, they’d be in jail and the mine confiscated. But EPA gets a pass, and Superfund money, so they can justify their budget.

You know, for all of the people complaining about his executive order establishing Christianity as an official religion, I searched the text for the word “Christ” and it sure didn’t show up once…
