Even the USDA will kill your dog
Along with other .gov agencies. But this case is so full of weird, scary, and stupidity:
I see this little pipe that looked like a sprinkler sticking out of the ground, Canyon told EastIdahoNews.com. I go over and touch it. Then it makes a pop sound and it spews orange gas everywhere.
The orange gas was cyanide, and it sprayed into Canyons left eye and on his clothing.
The teen grabbed some snow and washed his eye out but then realized Casey was having problems.
And it got placed there by the US government:
It took hours after emergency crews arrived and help from multiple agencies to learn Casey had died from exposure to an M-44.
M-44s are spring-activated devices that release cyanide when they are activated through upward pressure or pulling. The US Department of Agriculture uses the devices to control coyotes and other predators.
So, the USDA placed these around the edge of a property line and didn’t put up a sign or notify people who lived in the adjoining neighborhood?

If a private person did that, warning signs or not, whether the booby trap was set off or not, it would be several felonies totaling several decades in prison.

Maybe they were afraid the coyotes would read the sign.
If this thing wasn’t made by Acme, there’s something wrong in the procurement process.

A quick Google search shows that this is a frequent outcome from those traps.

Chemical agent land mines set by the government.

The teen is also damn lucky.
Given a 14 year old doesn’t outweigh a full grown lab by all /that/ much. Especially if the kid was on the smaller side.
Hell, what if instead of bringing his dog, the teen had a younger sibling with him?

Since the leftists haven’t started protesting this, I think the military should relabel all their existing anti-personnel land mines as “anti-coyote devices”.

“and didn’t put up a sign” nope, that would take common sense.

Damn, even Nazi soldiers put up “Achtung Minen” signs.
What is wrong with these people?
