Not a very sympathetic case

A while back, I noted that a 19 year old had killed three robbers with an AR-15. Well, the grandfather of one of the little angels says it was unfair that the guy had an AR and the thugs only had brass knuckles. There were three of them. So, it’s better for the innocent party hereto have been beaten by three men with brass knuckles? No way.

Good shoot.

Criminals gotta have a fair chance.

That’s the whole impetus behind “gun control”; government giving criminals (like themselves) a fair chance.

What are you, a “crimophobe”? Bigot!

And Sam Colt smiled down from heaven.

The law usually looks at disparity of force. So if a frail 90 year old woman punches me, I cannot respond in kind much less with lethal force due to the disparity in our sizes and physical condition.

Anyone facing superior numbers who are armed with melee weapons would instantly win the argument that they felt that their life was threatened, thus justifying responding with whatever force necessary to neutralize said threat.

Coincidentally, grandpa is also a convicted felon: http://www.oscn.net/dockets/GetCaseInformation.aspx?db=tulsa&number=CF-1994-1927&cmid=218114

“Schumacher does say he supports the right to bear arms and protect your home. But he doesn’t agree with shooting and killing intruders.

“These boys’ families are going to suffer with this the rest of their lives, we have to live with this the rest of our lives,” said Schumacher.”

Well, Mr. Schumacher, I’d say it’s a lot better for the three families of the deceased intruders to have to live with their own failings and memories for the rest of their lives than the law-abiding homeowner and his family would for losing his son to blunt force trauma by brass knuckles.

Hell, even HCP holders in Tennessee can’t carry brass knuckles. Big no-no, sir.

Being such an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment, I guess Mr. Schumacher thinks it’s perfectly fine for folks to use firearms in their homes for self defense as long as those firearms aren’t pointed at anyone in his immediate family or his friends while they are committing their crimes.

I can’t believe that “all three of them were really good boys” wasn’t quoted in the article.

The grandpa is amazingly wrong, but the young woman who planned the home invasion burglary, who is now charged with three counts of felony murder, will have a lifetime to reconsider her stupidity.

  7. Robert Says:

IIRC, they also had knives. Funny the grandpa doesn’t mention that…

  8. Ron W Says:

@Robert, yeah, he should’ve only said, “they shouldn’t have brought knives to a gunfight”, about the best that could be said of them. Otherwise, just another “catastrophic failure in victim selection” and the perps getting what they needed instead of what they wanted. High risk criminal endeavors sometimes end in death. Maybe grandpaw should’ve taught his grandson that!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
