As I recall, it is mostly the Chavistas and Maduro militias which are armed anyway. Perhaps the government just figured out that the people with the guns get to make the decisions, and also realized that the people with guns are going hungry, too.

Communism is just socialism with gun control.
Just a week or so ago, Maduro was arming his supporters. Things must be coming to the end game if they are now disarming the “supporters”.
