Interesting to me the suppressor actually increased the bullet speed:

“…suppressor actually increased the bullet speed”

    Impedance matching device?

  2. HL Says:

Suppressors increase pressure. Maybe that did it?

  3. dagamore Says:

in the vid it is a 10.5″ barrel, adding a can on to it, makes the effect length of the barrel a touch longer, some places call this suppressor push. But as you can see in that video the change is nominal.

More time with the gases expanding behind the bullet would obviously translate into increased bullet velocity.

I wouldn’t expect the same result with pistol calibers though, since pistol powder burns off so much sooner.

  5. M Gallo Says:

It is called “free bore boost.”

  6. Craig Says:

I’m going to be the nerd and say that the difference in velocities between suppressed and un-suppressed is not statistically significant. It’s pretty safe to say the suppressor does nothing regarding velocity based off this sample.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
