Gun Porn
In the early days of blogging, it was an effective counter to bias and misinformation. I’m convinced that the internet is why the gun control debate took a shift in the direction of the good guys in the early aughts and early teens. I think the internet in those days also was the reason for gay marriage succeeding in the courts. And there are several other issues early blogging kind of helped to spearhead.
But now the internet is basically social media for most people. And you have youtube censoring content they don’t like. Twitter is suspending people’s accounts of people who accuse Weinstein. And not running ads for politicians they don’t like.
In the future, the googles, the facebooks, the twitters, the youtubes and all these new social media apps that my kids have started to use can just not let you see something. Sort of like the press does. I think it will come full circle. Only with new gatekeepers.
Why gun experts dont support banning or buying bump stocks
That’s from the Christian Science Monitor. They used to be one of the more anti-gun papers out there. Now, they seem pro gun. Why the change?
They still support the ban likely because it’s just not a good political hill to die on. But they are right to oppose the current atrocious version of the bill.
Gun laws that cost millions had little effect because they weren’t enforced.
Of course. These laws only impact the law-abiding.
Sorry, I’ve not posted much on it. Because I don’t know anything. There’s just not a lot of info out about it that is meaningful, other than the police keep changing the timeline. And conspiracy theories and fake news on the issue abound. Careful what you read and even more careful what you believe.
A round up. My favorite is the Chinese troops shooting apples off eachothers heads.
National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch announced Sunday on Twitter that her family had been forced to move suddenly after she received multiple death threats from gun control advocates.
And I laughed. The dude looking to primary Paul Ryan (a worthy cause) posted a youtube video of him bumpfiring without any sort of device. He then asks if we should ban fingers. And he showed that silencers don’t silence guns:
I am a little skeptical of the bump firing. First, he has some derpy AK pattern rifle with a horrible scope configuration. Then it gets cut to him at the firing line and he puts the rifle behind himself. Is it the same gun or did he grab a rubberband? Dunno. But the suppressor thing is right on.
Still, I think his point stands regardless of any editing in the vid.
The ATF guy who greenlighed the bumpstock: We could not find a way to classify it as a machine gun
Do you guys not remember the mental gymnastics you went through on the street sweepers? Or your various whoopsies, like with the Akins Accelerator or pistol braces. I guess they just weren’t committed enough this time for some reason.
Bump Stock Ban Retroactively Criminalizes Possession of Legally Acquired Products
But I think something will pass. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are going on about it and NRA has waved the white flag.
I think bumpstocks are dumb. You’re not really shooting accurately and they mostly make noise. I don’t think they should be banned. And if I found one on the cheap, I’d buy it for a few reasons. First, if someone wanted to challenge a law that said turn them in, I’d be able to give them “standing”. Second, if a version passes that grandfathers the ones out there, they would go up in value a whole lot. Third, it makes statists and leftists cry.
Sort of want but it’s another caliber to stock: .17HMR AR Upper.
Making the case for us: Spokane Police will add suppressors to rifles, citing concerns about hearing damage
Tell me about it.
CNN tries to explain how bump stocks work with animation. Hilarity ensues. Hint: It requires an actual bump stock.
So, I did this post about it. And am republishing it again because a few things have happened. First, youtube deleted one of the videos. Second, Jerry Miculek happened. Third, I’m on vacation and want to rehash content. And fourth, the number turned out to be 6. So, here it is:
6) The bump stock. They’re all the rage on the internet right now:
5) The rubber band. The evils of common office supplies:
4) A bump board. Evil, evil carpentry materials:
3) Shoestrings. No video I can show because that has actually been ruled illegal by ATF. And I wouldn’t want to incriminate some poor guy. But here’s a legal one registered with ATF:
2) Using your fingers. Look, ma, no evil stocks, framing materials or office supplies needed:
1) Be Jerry Miculek:
And the click baity title is still a joke.
Charlie Rangel (D-Ranged) should be deprived of guns protection. He deserves it.

I’m guessing the cast majority of the public and lawmakers think that it is illegal to own machine guns. This guy had the means and could have purchased a legal to own, pre-86 machine gun. If he’d done that, I think congress would be looking at what it would do about transferables.
No, I don’t think a ban is a good thing. If we ban those, we’d need to ban rubber bands and boards. But here’s the statement. Based on the statement, I’m presuming they see the writing on the wall. They do not call for a ban. The want the ATF to look at the issue again. They also point out that it was Obama’s ATF that gave the OK to bump stocks. And it gives a nod to national reciprocity. Overall, it’s a pretty brilliant approach to it.
I think these things will be banned. I think it’s stupid to ban them. However, a derpy product that I didn’t want a week ago and still don’t want now is not exactly the fight I’m willing to focus on. As I said before, if they ban this then the pro-gun side better get something out of it. You know, compromise and all that. And we should go for reciprocity and if we add bump stocks to the NFA, we should remove silencers. The Second Amendment Foundation seems to agree.
What options does the ATF have?
And this guy went full retard: Second Amendment supporter and Tennessee resident destroys AR-15 bump stock, calls for it to be outlawed. Just to get some TeeVee time. Sad.
The media doesn’t understand guns — and doesn’t want to
On the one hand, the press seems to understand and differentiate what automatic and semi-automatic rifles are these days.
On the other, CBS says the shooter used “automatic rounds“
DC will not appeal the Wrenn case to the supreme court. DC has released a statement basically saying they were stupid to challenge gun cases in the past.
This is good news for DC. And likely bad news for Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, and more.
Some has-been wants to shoot all NRA members.
Well, come do it.
A lot of important things happened in the gun world yesterday. And I had other things to do. I’ll add my $0.02 in a bit.
When in Reno a few years back, I checked into a hotel. I had with me an AK, a couple of AR-15s, and a few handguns. I had 1,000 rounds of ammo for the AK. Another 500 for the AR and I planned on buying pistol ammo at the local gun store. And it was obvious they were guns because they were in gun cases. And no one on the hotel staff cared one whit. Went straight to my room with no problem.
Suddenly, people think taking guns in to a hotel should be illegal or regulated or something. Why? People do travel to go shooting. I have. I will again.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
