Gun crime is still only about 2/3 that of a decade ago, however. Removal of most legally owned firearms does indeed make it harder to find and use a firearm criminally. Until the criminals supply meets the demand again, at which point the armed criminals can and will shoot anyone as much as they desire, without limits. I’m guessing about another year or two before total criminal gun crime leaps beyond the preban total, less if the Muslims start arming themselves in large percentages.
And total violent crime is of course way higher now than preban. Unarmed victims are easy pickings.

It pays more to be a predator when your prey are all defenseless. Hence the second amendment.
