Active shooter training comes to Tennessees Capitol Hill. Some locals were offering training to churches recently too.

I recall our “active shooter” training at major medical center instructed us that all gun owners were potential active shooters. Blatant prejudice and bigotry! And it taught us to use “improvised weapons”, but of course, real, effective weapons were banned!

When my wife was a resident at Johns Hopkins in the early 1990s, a security guard there found his wife in the company of another man, in the ER waiting room. Angry words followed, and then shots were exchanged.
No drill or training was needed to clear the waiting room of everyone not involved instantly, and several doctors had to be convinced later by the police to unlock the examining room and office doors.
Sometimes people know what to do pretty well already.
