New from Glock: The G19-x
Here’s their page on it. It has a full sized frame and a compact slide. I’m guessing this was their submission to the Army’s Modular Handgun System.

I’m interested in folks’ thoughts on the purpose/appeal in the civilian market. For concealed carry it seems like the wrong compromise, a longer grip to print through your shirt, but same shorter slide? Seems like the opposite might have appeal, G19 frame for concealment) but G17 slide (for improved accuracy and velocity). Is there a civilian application for this other than concealed carry?

“Oh, the market wants a single-stack slim 9mm? Fuck you, you’ll get a .380”
“Wut? People pay money to chop the frame of their G17 to G19 length? How about ‘Fuck You’ here’s a G19 slide with a 17 frame”

A whole heaping pile of “meh”

What the hell is this? People pay good money for a chopped 17, but they give us a longer 19? Are they trolling us? This is exactly what people have NOT been asking for.

This gun has roughly the same dimensions as the original M&P9, the P30/VP9, the PPQ, the FN 509, the P99, the…
To say nothing of the original Colt Commander, which has been a standard catalog item since its introduction, unlike the oft-discontinued and usually limited edition CCO.

Tam, I was writing a “I respect you, but…” response. Then I did a google image search for sleeved XDs and looked at Judge sales numbers just to crush my own spirit.
Damnit. Just bring on the apocalypse already. We’re boned.

Is there a benefit to a shortened barrel and slide mated to a full length grip? I have not seen an explanation.
It’s popular, OK, but what’s the actual benefit? Popularity? Well, that is democracy.

I can see where it makes sense if concealment isn’t an issue, but weight and size are. If your concerns are accuracy and concealment a longer slide and shorter grip would be better.
