Indeed they do
Tam on the Glock 19-x. It’s kind of M&P9 sized and that’s what I primarily carry. But she’s right: Glock knows people will buy this.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

No wonder they lost the Army competition. Or is the Army ordering a similarly weird variant of the P320? I didn’t pay much attention and assumed they were looking primarily at the full-sized models.

“Now Glock is selling what is basically a commercialized version of their MHS entry as the “Glock 19X”, with the 19’s compact slide atop the 17’s full-length grip. For the MHS entry, this was because the contract specified both a 17-round magazine capacity as well as a maximum overall length.”
How is this a “no wonder they lost”?
Our Pistol Operators can only tolerate a Long Slide because otherwise they can’t shoot out OpFor’s eyes through a helmet slit at 500 meters?
It’s a goddamn pistol; if you’re using it you’re already basically screwed, and the slide length is rounding error.
Frankly “staying out of the way better” is probably more important than trivial differences in velocity and sight picture if you’re using it as a last-ditch, and every single entry was doubtless superior to the old battleship-sized M9.
I mean, there’s nothing wrong with the modified SIG P320 they ended up picking, but equally, “zomg they only had a short slide” is not important.
Seriously. It doesn’t matter.

I’m reminded of the phrase “An answer in search of a question.” But I predict they’ll sell a ton of them
