The reports I have heard say the ammo was armor piercing or tracer or both. Do I need a special license to sell such ammo? If I sell you a box of ammo do I need a special license? Can I go to jail? More questions than answers.
It is illegal to sell armor piercing handgun ammo. There are specific exemptions for black tip .30-’06 M2 ball and green tip M855/XM855 5.56mm (and yes, if there is a handgun available in the chambering, it’s “handgun ammo”).
People get jammed up all the time for pulling M2 bullets and reloading them as .308.
Apparently while investigating this dude (since his name and address were found on a box in the shooter’s room) they discovered some technical foul he’d committed, apparently AP ammo-related. I misspoke in saying he’d sold the AP to the shooter.
And if a beer bottle were found in the hotel suite, we’d need to investigate the brewer, and if a pair of toenail clippers we’re found, well those would be Chinese so we can’t investigate them. Maybe they’re waiting until they can insinuate a Russian connection and then pin it to Trump.
Oh, I think I understand. The guy is getting jammed up because the feds want to jam him up. Does he , by chance, live on the Bundy Ranch. Just kidding but another case of government overreach.

The dude sold the guy some ammo that might not have been legal. People need to calm their tits.

Here’s a pretty good timeline:

So the ammo that Haig sold had nothing to do with the shooting. He is getting jammed up because of something entirely unrelated. Is that the story?

Wiil,
I don’t know how much more clearly I can phrase it than what’s in that linked article. What part are you having difficulty understanding?

Lyle,
You’re not even making enough sense to rebut.

Where are the usual surveillance cam videos of Paddock going in and out of his room carrying or carting reported guns and ammo?
