I’ll tell you what, I’m totally against the current thuggish format of the war on druhs, but I’m not for legalization anymore. Legal weed in WA state has absolutely led to more property crime and more homelessness.
Grendel, I would love to see some stats and cause/effect cites that leads you to such “absolute” certainty.
I’m not just being facetious; what you say is pretty much 180 counter-intuitive from everything I have seen/learned/believe as to the ancillary crime and other negative effects of black market drugs, and here in Fla we are likely to go pot-legal fairly soon so it is of direct personal interest.
The historical example of prohibition directly counters your observations…since booze “absolutely” is a primary contributor to crime and “homelessness” (we can debate the non-existence of that as a demographic at some future time) even with legal status, would you have alcohol illegalized (again)?
‘Short advice: before we decriminalize, let’s check with the countries which have already done this. How has it worked for them?’
– Its worked out pretty well. After Portugal decriminalized heroin, it saw heroin use plummet.

Shorter advice and closer to home, prohibition didn’t and doesn’t work worth a shit.
