But stopping power
Your caliber sucks and you’re holding it wrong. Wait, that’s not how that goes.
Kidding aside, some useful information there.

Ok, so 45 is on top again. Let me go change out my kit.

I can’t shoot a 9mm or larger caliber in a pocket sized pistol worth a hoot. It took years of practice to get somewhat capable with my former carry gun, a Glock 19, and even then I admit freely that most readers of this blog are likely much better shots than me.
I now have a Glock .380 and a pocket holster for it, and I carry it more often than I did the 9mm. I can hit what I aim at with it, at least at the range, because it has less recoil. The bullets penetrate at least 12 inches in ballistic jello and their wound volume would be slightly smaller than those described in the article. This makes me under-armed, maybe, but not unarmed.
Knowing I have an underpowered caliber with only a few bullets in the gun might just keep me situationally aware enough to stay out of a situation I shouldn’t get into.
Firing it makes a noise at least as terrifying, maybe even more scary, compared to racking the slide on a 12 gauge pump shotgun.
And if I ever have to arm myself knowing in advance I will be shooting someone to stop their attack, it isn’t a pistol at all I’ll be taking from the gun safe but a rifle or shotgun. Or at least the Ruger GP-100 in .357 Magnum, which is such a nice heavy handgun I can shoot it pretty well.
[I note in passing that revolver cartridges are now ignored, and I lament the passing of the .357/.44 discussions, which inevitably led to praise for the .41 that is just as strong as support for the .40. The more things change, ….]

And yet, based on other studies, the FBI and much of law enforcement is going to the 124+p 9mm.
