By coincidence, I also bought a Colt Commander for $50. 1974, and not long out of Army service, the local postmaster offered it to me for that price. I did not haggle, and paid the man. His son had carried it as a helicopter pilot in Viet Nam, and no longer wanted anything to do with it, and the postmaster was not a gun guy and didn’t either. Eventually I gave it to an extremely good friend, who died young. His son still has it, and has made something of himself in life and plans on passing it on to his son. Dollar for dollar, that was the best fifty-bucks I ever spent.
