When seconds count, the police are minutes away
A feel good story about how an armed citizen thwarted a robbery. But there’s this:
“There were some people in the store. I figured I got a minute or two to get home and get back and get my gun before he would be able to do anything.”
He had time to go home, get his gun and held the perp for police.

I am sure that now he carries his gun everywhere.

So, he had time to go home to get his gun but not enough time to call 911?
To me that’s little like digging out your bayonet to prepare for final defense while ignoring the radio to call in arty and air strikes.
Glad everything worked out OK, but he needs to work on tactics a bit.

Alternate theory, he was carrying without a permit and is making up the story about having to go home in order to avoid admitting to a crime. Because they like the outcome the cops are playing along with the obviously false story.

Judge and speculate all you want. Who among you would have returned to a dangerous situation as did this man? Several years ago we had a very unhinged man employed at my place of work. After he was let go during a work slowdown (2009) our engineer dept. secretary shared with me the thought that she felt safer knowing I was there to protect her. I replied that I appreciated her confidence in me but told her that my first instinct was to exit the building and that if I had to debilitate or kill him on my way out then good on her, but my first priority was my own safety. This guy appears to be a genuine hero.
