This seems like a good thing.
“Siamese M16”
If you read just a bit of this, the implication is that the NRA is somehow tied to Russian election meddlers. But, basically, she’s a member and met a few NRA folks at a gun rights festival.
Interesting polling data from Pew. So, let’s see. US adult population is 249,485,228. 3 in 10 own a gun. So that means 74,845,568 say they own guns. Of those 3 in 10, 19% say they’re NRA members. So, 14,220,658 people are NRA members? Or, rather, some number of people think they’re members.
Who I’ve never heard of. One Avery Gardiner, Brady Campaign Co-president (honestly, I’d kind of forgotten Brady still existed), drops the big lie regarding Kavanaugh:
What we know about his stances is through the opinions hes issued on assault weapons. A challenge to DCs ban on assault weapons went before him and two other judgesall three were [appointed by] Republicans. The panel split 2-1 to uphold the law, with Judge Kavanaugh as the dissenter. He thinks assault weapons are within the scope of the Second Amendment, which puts him way out of step with the Supreme Court and circuit courts that have considered this issue. [The Second Amendment] protects the kinds of weapons that were in common use at the timein 1791, when the Second Amendment was adopted. Those are [former Supreme Court Justice Antonin] Scalias words. Judge Kavanaugh just uses the first part of that phrase, in common use and leaves out the at the time part.
Perhaps she should read the Heller decision:
Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment . We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997) , and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 3536 (2001) , the Second Amendment extends, prima facie,to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding.
This cracked my right up:
Seems the FBI is turning loose one of its databases to be used for NICS checks. This database has 400,000,000 records and would have supposedly stopped the Charleston shooter.
5 Must-Know Drills for Your Home-Defense Shotgun
Personally, don’t dig the shotgun as a home defense gun. But as a shotty noob, I enjoy practicing this sort of stuff.
A group of Parkland shooting survivors are suing the Sheriff’s department:
Incompetence, poor training and inaction cost lives in the Valentines Day shootings that killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, 15 current or former students claim in a new federal lawsuit.
The suit says the 15 suffered at least, psychological injury and trauma during the Feb. 14 mass shootings, which left 14 students and three adults dead and 17 other people injured.
Courts have ruled in the past that cops have no duty to protect you.
Here’s a 9mm AK variant from Palmetto State Armory:
A feel good story about how an armed citizen thwarted a robbery. But there’s this:
“There were some people in the store. I figured I got a minute or two to get home and get back and get my gun before he would be able to do anything.”
He had time to go home, get his gun and held the perp for police.
We have a lot going on in TN. We have a senate race happening where my choice of vote is for former Democrat Governor Bredesen. Bredesen actually signed a few pro-gun bills into law during his tenure. The Republican is Marsha Blackburn, who I’m generally not a fan of because she’s pretty flaky. I was disappointed to see Bredesen call for more gun control recently. So, I guess he’s right out.
For Governor, we have NRA endorsed Diane Black. She’s an otherwise entrenched local politician. And then, there’s Randy Boyd, who is trying to run like Trump. He has the whole successful businessman thing down. Though he was critical of Trump during the 2016 campaign. And his ads tout his pro-gun bona fides. I’m leaning toward him because he’s not a career politician.
For my local house district, I’m voting for Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett. I’ve met him. He’s a good guy with definite libertarian leanings.
And Scott P. Williams will get my vote for state senate.
But only because they’ve been at record highs for so long. Still, the third highest June ever.
Democrats have to hide their intentions to win, usually:
Tedra Cobb, the Democratic candidate in New York’s 21st Congressional District, told a group of teenage supporters that she supports a ban on certain firearms but won’t say so publicly for fear of losing her election.
It’s satire but it’s right on the mark:
Resistance Movement Vows To Do Anything To Stop Trump Short Of Treating Other Half Of Country With Respect
Remember dancing FBI guy who negligently shot some body? Wel, he’s allowed to carry his gun again.
Fliers may have a tough time recovering damages for invasive screenings at U.S. airport security checkpoints, after a federal appeals court on Wednesday said screeners are immune from claims under a federal law governing assaults, false arrests and other abuses.
In a 2-1 vote, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia said Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screeners are shielded by government sovereign immunity from liability under the Federal Tort Claims Act because they do not function as “investigative or law enforcement officers.”
The TSA is the gift that keeps on getting.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
