Magazines are wear items
McThag speaks the truth. Buy magazines. If you monitor Brownells or GunMagWarehouse, often they will have a 10 pack of PMAGS for under $100. When they do, I usually buy a pack.

My bro, Willard, has bought magazines he can’t identify.
Just in case.
Turned out to be prophetic in the case of several Stars.

Currently $109.99, on sale. Sigh. I even paid more than $100 for a Mosin once.

If possible, I always like to purchase all gun accessories, especially standard capacity mags, with cash in person. I’ve determined to also try to acquire any further semi-auto rifles by private sale with cash.

I’ve been working on some stuff recently (not gun relegated) with someone who worked in the Clinton White House and staffed the crime bill / assault weapons ban bill as a young DC staffer.
We were having drinks Friday evening and told her that one lingering impact of her efforts was that I buy way more magazines than I think I need. And also buy too many guns. It’s sort of like a funny version of PTSD.
She had recognized that among the other failings of the bill was that it’s expiration lead to a huge uptick in people who might not have otherwise bought guns, buying guns. Because, people don’t like the government telling them not to do stuff.
She disagreed with me on the need for guns. But got the reason why their efforts backfired.
