Tragic
In Chicago, a good guy with a gun stopped a shooting. When the police arrived, they shot the good guy.

This did NOT happen in Chicago. It happened in Robbins, a suburb where a couple decades the entire PD was fired for dealing drugs, and the Illinois State Police had to police the place till they could hire a new police department.
And I saw this morning that the news is trying to make this racial. Robbins is probably 90+% African American, so the idea that the copper “saw a black man with a gun, so he shot him” really needs some work.

Rest in peace, brother.

I hit the button too fast.
The copper was from Midlothian, a neighboring suburb. “Chicago” had nothing to do with it.
You can hate Chicago and the Chicago police all you want, but please don’t dump on them for something they had nothing to do with.

Too many trigger-happy poofter boys in blue just itching to shoot somebody at the slightest excuse, and knowing that their union, their department, the prosecutors, and the judges will cover their homicidal hindquarters.

That happened in Orlando a few years ago. One cop shot another outside of a college football game.

This is my big worry about being involved in a self defense situation; That the cops would be very likely to cap me as soon as they arrived on scene. It seems like cops these days aren’t trained to assess the situation anymore, it’s shoot first and find out what’s going on later.

OTOH, from the cops’ perspective going into a bar full of fighting drunks at 4 a.m. in Chicago (or thereabouts)?
We can control our situational awareness somewhat, them not so much.
I couldn’t/wouldn’t be a cop.
