During the Obama presidency, the IRS targeted non-profit groups that were conservative or tea partyish. Now, the IRS is targeting the legalized marijuana business.

The marijuana business is not legalized. It is still a racket under federal law. One which has managed to acquire local political protection in some places. The way Al Capone acquired local political protection for his bootleg racket, and the IRS sent him to prison for not cutting them in for a piece of the action.

…also remember that being an illegal user or addict of a controlled substance (as defined in Federal law 21 U.S.C. § 802) makes on a prohibited person for firearm possession.
There might not be the federal-level political cover for a cop to bust one for smoking a joint, but oddly enough in the same jurisdictions, there would be cover to throw the book at a prohibited person in possession of an icky firearm.

And now a bunch of people in “legal” cities and States are lamenting the patchwork and disparate laws when it comes to marijuana. And how it makes traveling so much more challenging.
