Why I don’t place much stock in Carry Permit tests

Shooting the test blind. I know of at least two cases of blind people getting permits. One was local that Tam wrote about and I can’t find a link to. And this guy.

Just don’t shoot the piano player.

  2. Ratus Says:

I won’t nk just as long as they keep playing the songs that I like.

    😀

  3. Marq Says:

Make it at least 3. Had a young lady get a Nevada non resident permit a few years ago.

  4. Timothy E Covington Says:

completely agree with you. The last time I tested, I had people from 2 lanes over hitting my target.

  5. Jerry Gibbs Says:

It’s like when you go to work. That is not a woman, that is another person, just like me. She can do everything I can do. Being female is not a curse. Yes, I know, I have never sufferd a period. Thank you, Jesus. I don’t want to. The men who think every little girl was made for them, can kiss my ass. Those men are idiots.

There is a difference between completely no vision blind and legally blind.

I know people that are missing a lot of their field of vision, but they can see sections of their field of view clearly. Other “blind people” can only see up close clearly. They may be legally blind but still have some sight left.

The right to self defense isn’t a guarantee one will prevail over an attacker, it is simply acknowledgement that everyone gets to try to prevail, even those with visual impairment or other limitations on their abilities. The ADA demands reasonable accommodations for the differently abled, and in these cases, I say point them toward the targets, let ’em shoot, and give them their scores.

  8. Sigivald Says:

Generally reminds me of the way anti-gun people sometimes demand “training” for gun owners, especially in rants after Some Tragic Incident.

My reply is always “what about the thing you’re talking about is caused by not knowing how a gun works, man?”

  9. one-eyed Jack Says:

I’m half blind. Where do I fit in? Jack.

    rd,

“There is a difference between completely no vision blind and legally blind.”

The dude I’m talking about was dog-and-cane blind. Like, “severed optic nerves”, not “can’t see so well without his glasses”.

  11. Paul Says:

All the test is for is to see if you are competent to handle the gun safely and have at lest some idea of how to shoot. Nothing more.

It never was a test of combat skills.

  12. Skid Marx Says:

As part of the Great Leap Forward only police and government workers will have guns.
Everyone is equal in the glorious people’s collective utopia and there won’t be any crime.
Should a rare instance of crime occur then a policeman in a supercharged Trabant will be there to save you within seconds. Forward!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
