Those are weasel-words. “Involving firearms” covers a wide range of things, from police to ‘good guy with a gun’ to shooting a burglar heading towards your kids’ room. But how many were actually done by somebody carrying a gun and up for a little light murder? How many were knife killings with a gun somewhere in the room?
There are lies, damned lies, and statistics. Government information partakes of all three.
