Bump stock lawsuit
They hold that an AR-15 is illegal because bump stocks allow them to be readily restored to fire full auto. Thanks, Trump.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

They are also compatible with a DIAS or lightning link and have been since the beginning. The fact that someone, somewhere, makes a full auto conversion kit* doesn’t make all compatible semi autos illegal machine guns. This is well settled statutory law. The ATF has correctly* designated the bump stock as the machine gun not the AR it’s attached to (in fact it’s a machine gun even if not attached to an AR). This lady is going to wind up paying the defendant’s attorney fees.
*For the sake of this discussion I’m accepting the dubious argument that makes bump stocks machine guns.

As MikeQ alludes, that of course would mean that practically any semiautomatic firearm falls into the same category.
As for who ends up paying whose legal fees; there are plenty of rogue judges out there.

One pair of plaintiffs CLAIMS that AR-15s are illegal because a bump stock can convert them to full auto. No court has held that. Ok, “not yet”. But doubtful that one ever will.

Is it reasonable to say any semi auto rifle is illegal because they can be bump fired and bump firing counts as a machine gun now?

So, a fully equipped machine shop would allow one to make a weapon, are they illegal too?

That’s a claim, not a holding.
Plaintiffs make claims that may or may not be utter bullshit. In this case, a plaintiff has made a claim that is at odds with established law.
Courts issue holdings, which bind inferior courts, essentially creating new law until overturned by the same court or a higher court. The court has not yet considered the plaintiffs dubious claims and has not issued any rulings. Even if they go along with the plaintiffs legal argument, there are many appellate levels to go.

But “no one needs an AR-15” so say the political accomplices of the perps in the following:
