Where did the time go?
So, Junior got her learner’s permit yesterday. It happened before I knew it.

Yesterday my sweet granddaughter was two, dressed up in her Amelia Earhart leather jacket and goggles. Then this past Friday she got her private pilot license at seventeen. But while she does have her driver learner’s permit she doesn’t yet have the operator. When I asked why she said “Because I don’t wanna die”. Funny/ironic, but she has kind of a point; she lives in Tampa/St. Pete, some of the most treacherous roads in the nation, while flight is almost risk-free.
And going one further, my daughter (the pilot’s mama and enabler of her awesomeness) was my sweet baby a week or two ago, but having been a fourth grade teacher at her Oldsmar Christian School for a dozen years now, will soon be 45.
Embrace it and enjoy it while you can brother, it’s over in an instant.

“Fun flies when you’re doing time.”
…. or something like that.

My daughter wisely told me every single day for her entire HS senior year that she was going away to college. Just like that. “Dad, I’m going away to college soon.”
Every day when she’d say it, I’d scream aloud in anguish, wail and throw my arms about in panic. She thought I was pretending.
My wife, not conditioned as I had been, told me that fall that she was greatly disturbed by our daughter’s absence from home. I was OK with it.

My eldest daughter didn’t get her drivers license until she divorced after five years of marrige. My second daughter had her 1600 ton coast guard license and was mate on a tug boat before she got her’s. So good luck with your more usual girl.
