Of the many, many, things wrong with this is the fact that the police held up a gun they found in the home as implied justification for the murder. That is outrageous (many aspects of this incident are outrageous).

Kid with the lady says she took her gun out of her purse and pointed it at the window when she saw somebody prowling out there.

This could have been any of us.
No malice aforethought here. Just untrained, inexperienced cops doing everything wrong and ultimately taking the life of an innocent woman and in the process ending his own. There’s a ton of them out there just like him. And that weepy police chief might be all apologetic and throwing the newbie cop to the wolves…but he, his agency, and the whole damn system are culpable too.

@Robbie, same but different. TX cop was a scared untrained newbie. SC cop was looking for a chance to kill based on his history. Both are largely the fault of a fucked up system.
Had a former local cop running my pawn shop who drew down on customers twice in one year; I never did in over thirty years. I came to believe he was looking for a chance to kill and be “justified” due to “fear for his life”, a phrase he had repeated to me more than once. I got rid of his ass after the second incident before he killed somebody and fucked up my business and life in the process.
The lack of training is all over, departments take marginal recruits (because who the fuck wants to be a cop anymore), and puts them on the street ill-trained and inexperienced but with the legal power of life and death of citizens. There are a lot of them out there.
The killers become cops to kill legally and the fucked up psych-evals used not only let them in but actively choose them for related attributes. There are a bunch of those out there too.
Unrelated as to those causes but yes on the white on white thing after the fact. Social “progress”. And money. Always follow the money.
