someone should let that guy know about Luke 22:36;
“Then He said to them, ‘But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.'”
I am not sure what faith he is a part of, but when Christ himself advocates for armed individuals it is a good bet you are not working for him if you advocates against that.
Part of his problem may be the DELIBERATE historical mis-translation of the “thou shall not murder” to read “thou shall not kill”. IIRC, that was the King James version. Lots of problems due to that bit of horsepucky.
For those like Pete who argue that disarmament is the Christian way, I suggest this “thought experiment.”
Imagine that I say to you, “I am going to kick you in the nads. You can stop me by defending yourself, or running away.” Then I kick you in the nads.
As soon as you recover, I say to you, “I am going to kick you in the nads. You can stop me by defending yourself, or running away.” Then I kick you in the nads, again.
Repeat until the person espousing the evils of self defense and the Christian purity of passivity either defends themselves (Yay, a convert!) or runs away (admitting defeat of their philosophy).
Again, this is just a thought experiment to try with people who think like Petey, that evil should not be defended against because of some misconceived morality, that cannot tell the difference between offensive violence (getting kicked in the nads for no reason, for example) versus defensive violence (stopping the person doing the kicking).
But he will try to take them from us, but not himself. Take from others what you have and keep for yourself. That’s evil criminalty. And it’s ALWAYS the way of slavery and tyranny.
So, he thinks that the bible being silent on guns means we should ban them, but sodomy, which the bible forbids over and over, should be not only legal, but embraced, encouraged and celebrated.
Petey’s misunderstood ‘Christian religion’ apparently also jettisoned the 8th Commandment: “Thou shalt not steal (… other peoples’ property, i.e. weapons)”.
Buttigieg probably jettisoned other Bible contents too, like Psalm 109, which c/should be offered for him:
8. Let his days be few; let another take his office.
11. Let an extortioner catch all that he hath; let strangers spoil his labour.
12. Let there be none to extend mercy unto him.
13. In the generation following let his name be blotted out.

Judge not that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye. –Matthew 7:1-3
So that means if you are elected you will support applying ALL gun laws you want to impose on us on all government officials and government agents, you know, according to “the equal protection of the laws” in the 14th Amendment. Because, Pete, I know you want “the rule of law” and “no one is above the law”. You down with that, Pete, or are you a “hypocrite” as Jesus labeled the Pharisees? Pete? Pete??!!

Indeed. For more along the same lines, Rolf Nelson has written a nice novel entitled “Heretics of St. Possenti”. Highly recommended.

My Christian faith also makes me a world without weapons which will happen once Jesus returns.

Note that Buttgiggety doesn’t bring up some of the other Biblical directives.

If he said that to me, I’d immediately ask him about abortion just to watch him squirm.

Curious definition of “Christian.”
