Yes, Virginia, there’s fuckery afoot
So, the Democrats have taken a substantial majority in VA. And, like they always do, set out to make people they don’t like illegal. And they are pushing lots of anti-gun bills. In response, over 90 counties have passed second amendment sanctuary bills.
One not terribly bright politician, when asked about said sanctuaries not enforcing the law, responded by suggesting the governor could send in the National Guard.
This is the sort of insanity that gets people killed.

That’s what the Democratic base wants.

There’s an abundance of lazy idiots in Virginia who “lean pro-2a”, but never vote because they’re so damn sure Virginia would always stay fundamentally “red”. Wouldn’t surprise me if they finally got off their asses next time & kicked these totalitarian fucks out.
Nothing is ‘permanent’ obviously, but hopefully it will shut this line of BS down for half a generation. We’ll see.

The Left has no problem killing babies, so they sure as hell won’t care when adults are killed.

During my 24 years in the National Guard, the only officers and NCO’s who would’ve participated in firearms seizures from citizens would’ve been fragged in the armory motor pool by their own troops.

I hope the it can’t happen here crowd is paying attention. Need I point out that a party line vote got us Obamacare several years ago? There will be a Democrat in the White House with a Democrat controlled Congress at some point in the future. Maybe not soon, but it will occur at some point. When that happens, I’d expect draconian gun control to get jammed through.
Never listen to so called moderate Dems, when in that position they will vote the party line.

Perhaps much of the, ‘It Can’t Happen Here’ crowd are more like the, We Don’t Want It to Happen’ here or anywhere. A large segment of such a group is the combat vet.
I get it, you’ve seen it, you’ve tasted it, you don’t want it ever again. I am not questioning their service, their ability, or their capability. Yet time after time has history shown that yes, such times will come. It is damn ignorant to think otherwise. Who but the vet better understands the need for eternal vigilance? Do not allow the cost thereof to dissuade one from standing, one last time if necessary, in opposition of that enemy of liberty. That foe must be utterly vanquished and imperative is our utmost.
I’m not coming down on the vet. Precisely because their word carries more value is it necessary for the vets to overcome a desire to disengage, in any form, from what is likely to come and soon. So you see, I esteem those who have already fought.

Tim,
There were several things that happened in Virginia that enabled this.
First, Virginia has seen a large number of immigrants both from overseas (largely muslims) and domestically (from New York, Maryland, and places north). Northern Virginia has almost become it’s own state.
Second, the Democrats fought the GOP district gerrymandering in court and won. Our districts were completely redrawn by some liberal academic appointed by the court and that resulted in Democrat shift. This Democrat strategy has been implemented in other places too (see Pennsylvania circa 2018).
