DIY Glock: Lower success

Mentioned I was building a Glock from the ground up, mostly because it’s cool to select your own parts and also to learn something. Assembled parts after I installed the trigger:

(lol @ Vickers professional gunsmith warning)

Anyhoo, it’s fairly easy to do. Just watch this video. The slide lock spring is like the AR-15’s detent spring in that I sent it flying across the room. But I digress. As to the parts I selected, well here goes:

The frame is a Grey Ghost Precision Compact. I chose this because it comes with most common frame modifications already done. And, for those of you it matters to, it has a 1911 grip angle.

Vickers Tactical extended magazine release and slide stop.

An Apex Tactical Flat Faced Trigger Enhancement Kit

And a competition trigger spring whose manufacturer I have forgotten.

The rest is OEM Glock stuff.

And the rest is stock Glock. Up next, the upper half.

This seems like good news

ITAR regulations significantly lessened.

Trump on VA

He says gun confiscation won’t happen on his watch.

What if they have bump stocks?

Today in gun safety

A vice reporter points a Tommy gun with a magazine in it at his cameraman and pulls the trigger.

Some expert

Can’t really not laugh at this guy:

In the video, Democratic Virginia Del. Mark Levine said the biggest difference between hunting rifles and assault weapons is how you hold the gun.

Speaking at a public meeting, the author of legislation to ban AR-style guns and large, bullet-holding magazines used in semi-automatic weapons also said shooters could use several fingers to pull the trigger and that deer know the sound of a bullet shot through a silencer better than humans.

As audience members were heard chuckling in the background, Levine said: In terms of the differences of the guns, the heart of the difference is how you hold the gun. It makes it a semi-automatic. He showed his trigger finger moving, and added, Meaning you can shoot with each finger, not like a bolt-action rifle typically used in hunting.

And this is the guy writing the law.

Well, OK

Alexa, we need lots of guns.

NRA board elections

I haven’t quite done the research to really endorse or suggest anyone to you. But John has.

VA responds

The legislature is pushing dumb gun bills so Virginians respond by buying 74K guns, a near 50% increase from last year.

In Bloomberg bought VA

So, the governor of WV is cool annexing all of the second amendment sanctuary cities in VA. Good for him.

News you can use

Data on various 9mm loads shot in barrels from 2 inches to 18 inches.

I’ve been pondering a pistol caliber carbine. I’m looking at a 7 inch or 4 inch barrel and this makes me thinks there’s quite a bit of difference.

Small of back carry is dumb

And dangerous:

Tripp and his 36-year-old father were play-wrestling in their home in Bloomington on Jan. 19 when the man’s concealed handgun slipped from his back and went off, the sheriff’s office said.

His 4 year old son died. Awful.

Post truth era

Fake news outweighs real news.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko

Mentioned this the other day. But thanks to Zendo Deb, comes more.

The Myth That the US Leads the World in Mass Shootings

An idea whose time has come

The DOJ likes to investigate violations of civil rights. Unless those rights are second amendment rights, then mums the word. Well, this seems like a start to fixing that:

A Freedom of Information Act request was filed Tuesday with the Department of Justice by attorney Stephen D. Stamboulieh. The request, filed on behalf of this writer, seeks DOJ statements of interest in defense of the Second Amendment comparable to what the Department has done in defense of the First Amendment.

Wouldn’t get my hopes up but I’m glad someone is doing it.

In NJ

Good: NJ Supremes rule that a permit applicant is entitled to a judicial hearing

First, a positive court case in Illinois and now this. What is the world coming to?

Pat yourselves on the back

Boy, that’s one dangerous gun taken off the streets.

Lack of self awareness

Warren proposes criminal penalties for spreading disinformation online.

Like saying your part Cherokee?

Like saying your kids attended a public school?

Like saying your dad was a janitor?

Like saying you’ll forgive student loan debt?

I could go on.

Use a holster

Deputy shoots himself with a gun kept in a jacket pocket.

Of course

Having just gotten into shotguns with a new Beretta 1301 Comp, they have released a new, improved version.

But one more gun law would help

Political correctness causes shooting:

The two suspects in this downtown shooting have been arrested 44 times with 20 convictions and 21 times with 15 convictions. Marquise Tolbert, the one with 20 convictions, had three felonies last year alone. You tell me how someone with three felonies in 2019 is walking around free and able to engage in a shootout that kills a woman and injures a bunch of other people, including a 9-year-old kid. Both Tolbert and William Tolliver, the other suspect, are just 24 years old. They both have previously been arrested and charged with drive-by shootings and unlawful possession of a firearm in 2018. So the courts knew full well that these were gun-toting gang members. Why did our justice system let them walk free? Why do we place criminals above law-abiding citizens?

In Illinois

A second amendment victory: IL Supreme Court: Misdemeanor convictions shouldn’t preclude gun ownership forever

Media Hogg

He’d kind of disappeared for a while. But he has returned to saying dumb things. Apparently, gun control was invented centuries ago by trans-gendered people. Or something.

ATF going to the cloud

FedScoop:

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is nearing a milestone of closing its last remaining data center and moving all of its data and applications to the cloud.

By the end of the fiscal year, ATF wants to have all of its users transitioned over to a new commercial cloud environment and plans to close down the data center and repurpose it for office space, bureau CTO Mason McDaniel told FedScoop.

What could possibly go wrong?

Great advice

NJT: The time to prep is not DURING the panic.

I too noticed that Amazon was out earlier in the week. It became an issue for me because I used all of mine up cleaning up fire extinguisher media. Ordinarily, I keep a box or two at the house. It’s not too late. I noticed today that the local Lowe’s had cases of them. I guess people go to Amazon first.

Great moments in self awareness

The Daily Mail: Prince Charles flew 16,000 miles in just 11 days using three private jets and one helicopter before proudly posing with Greta Thunberg in Davos

Hypocritical environmentalist is the new normal.

And another: CNN’s Don Lemon and guests mock Trump supporters as uneducated and illiterate

The dumbest man on TV, who once asked if a black hole sucked up a missing plane, is making fun of the ignorant? For the record, the reporter was the one who couldn’t identify Ukraine on a map. Lemon’s lack of self awareness isn’t new.

And, lastly:

Kriss USA Vector in .22 LR. I’d like it to have more than 10+1 capacity though.
