I worked in a steel melt shop for over 35 years. It was dirty, dusty with all kinds of elements floating in the air, along with burning hydrocarbons from our furnaces, sometimes the air was so bad that you could see it while you breathed it in.
In my area I had an old refrigerator, a Norge, that had to be 30 or more years old. And it kept on working, no matter what.
At home, I had a brand new White Westinghouse refrigerator, with water and ice in the door. I had it for 5 years and I got a phone call at work one night, from my wife, that the fire dept. was at my house, because my fridge had caught fire, and was smoking the house up. 5 years old, a fridge that was over 800$, died, and almost caught my house on fire.
You can bet that I was not a happy person. I remember my grandparents having their appliances that lasted for decades too.
I have no problem paying a bit more for a quality product, but I expect it to last for more than 5 years.
But look at the quality of guns made now. Not only can you buy a very good deer rifle for 300$, but it will last long enough to pass down to your kids, who can pass it to their kids, as long as they take reasonable care of it.

If we flushed that boat anchor called ‘California’, I’d say that entire list is possible.
